Ballet

I’ve recently signed up for ballet classes at SDT, after going for a trial class 2 weeks back.
Ballet is something I always wanted to learn. I like how graceful it looks, and the very pretty lines the dancers have. (I can hear sniggers already because I’m anything but graceful) I’ve also always liked contemporary/jazz kinda dance styles. And I feel like some techniques stem from ballet. So that’s another reason I’ve always wanted to learn it.
So I bought a pair of ballet shoes, headed for the trial class, and surprised myself at how I wasn’t as bad as I thought I’d be (except for the occasional hand-leg-coordination problems).
It was a pretty good class and a pretty good workout too. My calves were aching the most. I really give it to those ballerinas who can do this for so long, and even en pointe. I can only imagine how much more tiring that must be.
The only thing that deters me from going to class is the long walk up the hill to Fort Canning. But I think so far I’ve enjoyed the classes so much it’s not gonna be a problem. Yet.
Also, since the theme for the next pole showcase is “animal”, I’m toying with the idea of doing a ballet-pole choreo to swan lake. Bought a pair of pointe shoes as props too. Can pretend to go en pointe while holding myself up on the pole. haha
